Material Properties

Acme Monaco's beta titanium consists of the following four metals and their approximate percentage of composition:

Titanium, - 78%, Molybdenum - 11.5%, Zirconium - 6.0%,  and Tin - 4.5%.

This beta titanium material produces forces which are approximately 40% stronger than that of nickel titanium, but have only 42% of the stiffness of stainless steel.  The tensile strength of the material is in the range of 200,000 psi.

Clinical Advantages

Stiffness and Resiliency: Due to the stiffness and resiliency properties that are inherent in the beta titanium material, these properties allow you to apply larger wire sizes earlier in the treatment of the patient to increase your efficiency and eliminate the need for frequent patient appointments.

Torque Qualities: Due to their force and flexibility, beta titanium archwires are known for their excellent  torque qualities and the ability to add torque when necessary.

Nickel Free: One of the many benefits of this product is that these archwires contain no nickel  which is known to cause a reaction or irritation in some patients.

Ductility and Formability: The ductility and formability of these archwires allow you to form loops and bends with ease. The superior ductility also ensures that fracturing does not occur when you form the loops and bends in the archwires.

Pain Reduction: Because of the lighter forces  applied by these wires, in comparison to the forces found in stainless steel, these archwires are an excellent choice for patients with a low pain tolerance.

Testing for Product Assurance

To ensure that we always provide our customers with the highest possible quality, Acme Monaco  has developed a comprehensive quality plan for our product testing and approval.

The beta titanium archwires are tested for engagement and working forces utilizing the three point bend test method. The results of the tests are normally represented by a chart as shown below:

Quality control inspections for flatness, torque, archform, wire size, ductility, and tensile strength are also tested on a lot by lot basis to ensure you receive consistent high quality product.
